The all-new 2016 Chevy Volt is a great hybrid car that delivers remarkable electric range compared both with its predecessor and with all other hybrids in its class, says AutoGuide's Craig Cole of AutoGuide in a new review. Click "play" in the video clip below to watch the full report.
The new Volt has an electric-only driving range of 53 miles - more than double what its next major rival offers. A 1.6-liter gasoline engine that produces 149 horsepower and a whopping 294 pound-feet of torque extends the Volt's total range to an impressive 420 miles. It's rated at 106 MPGe, or miles per gallon equivalent. On gas only, it should top 42 mpg. This hybrid will recharge fully in about 13 hours on a 120-volt outlet, but only 4.5 hours if you're using a 240-volt charge.
The cabin is quite nice; AutoGuide notes that while the majority of its materials are hard plastic the graining is attractively upscale and gives the interior an unexpectedly rich appearance. At any rate, there's plenty of technology, including a standard eight-inch display crowning the center stack. The display is home to Chevrolet’s intuitive and speedy MyLink infotainment system. With its easy-to-discern layout and colorful interface, there’s little to complain about here, whether you’re pairing your smartphone via Bluetooth or searching for a nearby point of interest.
