One important thing you should know about motor oil is the difference between conventional and synthetic oils. Regardless of the brand name, synthetic oil is a little thicker than conventional oil. Because of this, it offers more protection to the moving parts in your engine.

One benefit of this viscosity, or thickness, is the added protection it gives to engines that have to run in areas where it gets hotter than normal in the summer months. Heat can take its toll on conventional oils by breaking it down quicker which leads to more frequent oil changes.

If oil changes are not made more frequently, you run the risk of running out of oil or running on oil that is dirtier than it should be. Both of these scenarios are bad for your engine and vehicle, which is why you should look into synthetic oils for the benefit of your vehicle.
